Creative ways to do Networking

Network marketing or networking is a business model that is based on person to person sales. It often involves talking to people and explaining your business model to them. In this sort of model, salespeople are encouraged to recruit their own networks of salespeople. The creators of a new tier (or “upline”) earn commission on their own sales and on sales made by the people in the tier they created (the “downline”). In time, a new tier can sprout yet another tier, which contributes more commission to the person in the top tier as well as the middle tier.

The basic method of networking is meeting over a coffee and discussing the business model. But that has become so cliched now that no one is willing to go for it. What people don’t realize is that there are various new approaches when it comes to networking. Let us look at some of the new ways to network:

Host events or attend

Events such as house parties, get-togethers, alumni parties etc. are a great way to not only increase your circle but also increase your opportunities for your prospects to inflate your business. You can also host networking-based parties and meet new people. The best way to utilize the prospects at such parties is to engage in conversation before the event. In that way, you would make contacts and would be able to get undivided attention and genuine interest of these people.

Volunteer

Volunteering is a great platform to network. What can be better than working for a cause and networking at the same time? It’s as we say, slaying two birds with one arrow. You know for a fact that people who have come there are of a similar mindset and it will not be awkward for you to strike up a conversation. Volunteering is a way you can boost your business circle and feel good about being a part of something that you stand by/ support

Be curious

This is a tactic that will always help you in your life. When you are talking to people, be curious about them, their stories, talk about things they are good at and be interested and curious about their profession. Ask questions about their jobs: doing this will make you stand out and make your prospect feel valued and make them feel that you are attentive.

Small thoughtful gifts

Well, who doesn’t like gifts? Gifting a small thoughtful gift to a prospect, can go a long way for you. Make sure that these gifts are a little personalized, so the person feels valued and appreciated. This would make them understand that you are here to make a genuine connection. This would in turn make them believe that you recognize their value and their contribution to your business. These small gestures are going to work for you when you are starting out.

Smaller networking events

Attending small networking events can be very helpful and useful for you. You can increase your knowledge, learn about the new techniques of direct selling, find new and better prospects. These gatherings are very beneficial for you if you wish to develop a business that lasts long. When you are serious about what you do, you tend to do the best for your business. Attending these events would befit your business and you may make some valued contacts, because let’s face it, networking is all about making and maintaining contacts.

Stay connected

Making a connection is just the first hurdle crossed, maintaining that contact is the real struggle. You should be able to maintain your relations with your upline and downlines. Keep them in loop. Sending a message to randomly check in is very friendly. This may benefit you in various ways like new prospects and business development etc.

Social media

Social media is a very powerful tool in today’s world. Be social media friendly and you would be 50% ahead in your game. It’s easy to keep up with your people through social media by liking their pictures or leaving a comment on their pictures and show your appreciation.
