Networking is all about keeping and making contacts. The process of interacting with others to exchange ideas and develop professional or social contacts is known as networking. It is necessary for a marketer or an entrepreneur to cultivate these relations for the healthy growth of his/her business.
Maintaining a professional relationship can be as tricky as maintaining a personal relationship. Sometimes even more so, as maintaining a professional relationship requires a few sets of behavior and rules that should be preserved for a healthy professional relationship. It is more like a guide than rules. Following these few steps will help you excel in maintaining professional relations.

Congratulate them

You should be appreciative of your contact’s achievements and successes. You should always congratulate them and celebrate with them. They should be your professional family and you should be genuinely happy for their accomplishments. This will also show them that you are on their side and give out a positive image that works wonders in network marketing.

Provide Professional Lead

Getting leads can be difficult – it is an inexplicable pain and anybody who has done or been a part of networking knows it. So, when you hear something that you think will be useful for someone in your network, let them know. You should think about the growth of your colleagues as well as being petty won’t work well in network marketing. If you want to introduce them to someone that you think will help them in their business, then you should.

Keep in touch


When social media wasn’t ruling the industry, people used to maintain contacts by sending mails, letters, magazines etc.- these helped them keep in touch with their people with a personalized touch. Yes! Social media has made it easier and now you can just tell them about how you appreciate them, how you support them by a like, share or comment.

Ask their opinion

Sometimes when we are stuck somewhere in life, its best to take advice from people who have been through what you are going through or people who are with you in this together. It is not a bad thing to ask for ideas, opinions; it just makes you human.
You should ask for the opinions of your uplines and downlines that will make them feel valued and would make your relation stronger.

Meet in Person

To maintain good relations you should keep up with your colleagues and what has been happening in their life not just through social media but also by meeting up with them often. Catch up over a beverage or a casual lunch/dinner. Of course, this is only possible when your contacts are in the same city. This will ensure a healthy development of your relationship and will also make them feel connected to you, which is always a good sign.

Send personalized links


You know how sometimes, when we are just scrolling through the internet and we stumble upon an article or a meme or some content that reminds us of someone or something in particular. In such cases, you should copy the link to that piece of content or whatever it is that reminded you of that person and send it to them. This is bound to create a lasting impression of you on them. This shows that you care, and you remember them often.

Introduction

Network marketing works best when paired with selflessness. You can not excel in direct selling if you are self-centric and not care much about your fellow mates. So, in direct selling you must maintain relations and be helping in nature. If you know someone who can be helpful to one of your upline or downline, introduce them to each other. A little selflessness won’t hurt anyone but will definitely go a long way for you.

Check In

It is a good habit to just randomly check in on people. It makes them feel valued and takes very minimal effort. Just text them randomly and ask about their life both, personal and professional. Be consistent in checking in, like once a month or every Friday etc.


Share your talent

As I mentioned earlier, you should be helping in nature. There will be lot of times when people in your network might need your help. For things like, helping them in making a presentation or helping them improve their pitch etc. You can also do them a favour and introduce them to a lead, a big client and many more. These things would grow a feeling of gratitude in them and would put you in a good place.

Give them space

While in networking, don’t be too intrusive in your colleague’s lives. Learn to give them space and let them breath. You wouldn’t like if someone usurps your personal space, right? Similarly, you should know where to draw the line. Professional relations should remain professional. Understand how not to mix your personal and professional life. It is a task to keep them both separate, but it is necessary for a peaceful life at work and at home.
